Bronze: A Forgotten Treasure

For CNA's investigation into a lost collection of Chinese bronzes, the operator behind our scans realigned a full digital mesh from hundreds of individual captures.

What it's for

A digital record earns its keep the day something goes wrong, or the day you need a second one. Cast a bronze replica from the data. Rebuild a part that's no longer made. Prove the condition a piece was in before anyone touched it.

It runs as a service on its own, and as an add-on to restoration, where we scan a piece before work starts and archive it after it leaves.

How we capture it

Handheld structured-light scanning for form and geometry, with the mesh assembling live on screen as the operator works. Photogrammetry where colour and surface detail matter as much as shape.

Large or fixed pieces are scanned where they stand, in a single visit, without being moved. What you get back is a watertight mesh, ready for archive, reproduction or repair reference.

How it works

Tell us the object. What it is, roughly how big, and where it lives. Photos are enough to scope it.
We scan it, on site or here. Fixed and fragile pieces are captured where they stand. Everything else comes to the studio.
You get the files. A clean, watertight mesh, archived on our end as a backup record.

A scan is cheaper than a rebuild.

Scanning costs a fraction of re-modelling an object from scratch, and it only has to be done once. The piece that gets scanned today is the piece you can still reproduce in ten years.
